Now Where Did I Put That Scarlet Letter [aka #Iran]

“Hardly a day goes by without the op-ed page of the Washington Post carrying an article by a veteran of the Bush Administration holding forth on foreign policy. Michael Gerson, a former Bush speechwriter and policy advisor, even has a regular columnist gig. And today Yosemite Sam advocates bombing Iran. It’s as if in 1969, the people who brought us to disaster in Vietnam were constantly writing on how to build on their success-and expand the war to Thailand, Malaysia, and Burma.” – Courtesy O’ Tom Ricks
I can’t help but think that Ricks is on to something he didn’t quite bother to pursue. I mean, that the problem isn’t Bolton, but rather that he has a mainstream venue in that the Post is willing to give him access to their editorial page despite his long standing record of not having been right about, well, frakin’ anything – ever. It seems to have become impossible for folks like Bolton to disqualify themselves from the public discourse.
Didn’t we use have a fleur-de-lis or a scarlet letter or some-such-something for circumstances like this?
